A large number of research projects attempt to sound as academic as possible in order to establish their authority, since non-academic expertise is not accepted to the same extent as that of academic expertise. This remark is a revelatory example of the power that academia exerts to other types of knowledges (and rationalities). Based on a distinction between lay people’s and academics’ opimion, expertise is usually associated within the academic arena.
